At Ballad, we help communities, people, and businesses thrive. Through workforce development programs and consulting services, we bring creativity, expertise, and purpose to everything we do. As a certified B Corp, we’re committed to using our business as a force for good — and we’re looking for a creative and driven Marketing Intern to help us tell our story through design.

About the Role

We’re looking for a marketing intern with a strong foundation in graphic design to support the creation of branded assets for internal and external communications. It’s ideal for a post-secondary student who is excited to build real-world experience designing materials that directly support program impact, community storytelling, and consulting strategy.

You’ll work hands-on with our marketing team to create design assets that make a real impact — from templates and reports to social media content and event materials. This in-person role is perfect for a post-secondary student eager to put their design skills into action and build a portfolio filled with meaningful work.

This is a 4-month, in-person position located in Edmonton, reporting directly to the Marketing Specialist.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop and refine proposal development templates for internal and client use
  • Design PowerPoint and presentation templates for company-wide and client-facing communications
  • Create branded annual and impact reporting templates, ensuring brand consistency in style and tone
  • Support miscellaneous daily design needs, including social media assets, event signage, and internal communications materials
  • Help maintain and organize our library of visual assets and design files for ease of access and brand aligned organization
  • Develop training guides to empower teams to use and update templates with ease
  • Follow brand guidelines while bringing fresh ideas and creative strategy to every project
  • Assist with versioning and production of design files for both digital and print

Who You Are

  • A post-secondary student currently enrolled in a graphic design, visual communications, marketing, or related creative program
  • Previous experience is considered an asset, whether through freelance work, internships or school projects
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Comfortable using Canva for quick-turn social graphics and template-based work
  • Familiar with additional tools like Figma, Google Slides, or PowerPoint
  • A strong eye for detail, layout, typography, and colour
  • Organized, creative, and collaborative — you’re confident managing multiple projects and timelines
  • Passionate about community, design, and the power of storytelling

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world experience designing for a certified B Corporation
  • A portfolio of print and digital materials created in a professional setting
  • Mentorship and collaboration with Ballad’s in-house marketing team
  • The opportunity to see your work in the hands of real clients, communities, and stakeholders across Alberta
