Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Fleet Operations Manager to lead and optimize our transportation department, transforming it into a strategic profit center. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet operations, including driver management, compliance, routing, and performance optimization, within a high-volume, time-sensitive logistics and distribution environment.
As a strategic thinker with a proven background in transportation logistics and team leadership, you will ensure the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of both perishable and non-perishable goods to retail locations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in transportation compliance, route efficiency, and operational excellence to support and enhance our high-performing supply chain network.
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage daily transportation operations to ensure on-time deliveries to grocery stores and retail outlets.
· Lead and manage day-to-day transportation operations, including dispatch, routing, scheduling, and fleet utilization.
· Ensure full compliance with transportation regulations, including CVOR, MOT, Hours of Service (HOS), ELD mandates, and food safety regulations (e.g., temperature control requirements for perishables).
· Vehicle maintenance scheduling, preventative maintenance and annual inspections for all trucks and trailers to avoid downtime.
· Route planning and optimization, especially during high-volume periods (e.g., holidays, promotions).
· Support cold chain integrity and ensure refrigerated deliveries meet food safety standards.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or related field (preferred).
· Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience managing transportation in a distribution or logistics environment, ideally in the grocery or food distribution service industry.
· Strong knowledge of CVOR, MOT, HOS, and ELD compliance.
· Experience managing refrigerated transport (reefers) and time-sensitive deliveries.
· Proficiency with route planning software and GPS fleet tracking systems (e.g., Geotab).
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed
