Position Summary :

As a key member of the Environmental Services (EVS) Team, the Environmental Services Supervisor will provide leadership and supervision of all activities within the scope of EVS including Housekeeping, Waste, Linen, and Pest Control departments. The Supervisor will train, mentor, plan, organize, control, and evaluate daily activities of the EVS department under the supervision of the Manager, ensuring the cleanliness of the hospital environment and adhering to appropriate standards and legislation, all within a cost-effective manner. The Supervisor will lead recruitment and training, linen services, waste management and pest control under the direction of the Manager and will act as the liaison between EVS staff and the EVS Manager and other managers and service leads.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, Community College Diploma an asset
  • Environmental Services Management Certificate or 3-5 years recent Environmental Services supervisory experience, preferably in a hospital environment
  • Member of the Ontario HealthCare Housekeepers Association
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (Communication, Organization, Delegation, Interpersonal)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PIDAC best practices for environmental cleaning for prevention and control of infections in healthcare
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Employment Standards Act
  • Strong computer knowledge - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise numerous and diverse activities, organizing and prioritizing appropriately to meet demands and expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem-solve, make recommendations for change, implement, and evaluate
  • Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of people safety and the delivery of the highest standard of quality care .
