Your Opportunity:

This position reports to the Care Manager who is responsible for the Children, Youth and Families, Addiction and Mental Health (CYF AMH) services located at the Leduc Clinic. The Addiction and Mental Health Therapist (AMHT) provides mental health assessment, treatment, case coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children, youth and their families experiencing psychological, emotional, social, substance misuse or behavioral difficulties. This position may also facilitate groups and/or Walk-In sessions within the CYF AMH portfolio. The therapist works as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing services within the clinic setting as well as working collaboratively with community partners. The therapist will provide services from a family centered, concurrent capable care framework, addressing the needs across the continuum of care. This therapist will work out of the Leduc Clinic. We currently offer services during daytime hours; however, we may expand hours to include weekends and/or evenings.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Considerable experience in mental health assessment and intervention. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered. Registration in a professional regulatory body as defined by the Health Professions Act (CARNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW). Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions and designation as a Clinical Social Worker is preferred. Provisional status with current registration with CAP will be considered. 3-5 years of direct clinical experience with the focus on children, youth and their families, preferably in a community mental health setting. Formal training in a therapeutic modality of intervention may include, but is not limited to, Solution focused Therapy, CBT, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, etc. Proficiency with computers, including MS Office Suite. Experience in Suicide Risk Management (assessment and intervention). Current CPR certification. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Excellent interpersonal skills and well developed written and verbal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care experience is preferred.
