Job Responsibility:

Overview: Fresh Market Foods is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Grocery Assistant Manager. In this role, you will play a key role in leading our Grocery department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales.

Responsibilities:

• Scheduling and Staff Management: Maintain staff schedules, oversee and train grocery staff, and ensure staff use Dayforce and Dayforce Wallet apps.
• Health and Safety: Promote health and safety as a team, educate staff on Fresh Market Foods’ protocols and Canadian regulations, and maintain cleanliness in the grocery environment. Ensure sweep logs are accurately filled out daily.
• Customer Service: Attend to customer questions, deal with complaints, provide recommendations, and accept compliments both in person and over the phone.
• Managerial and Supervisory Responsibilities: Train, provide coaching, and support the staff. Monitor staff work to ensure jobs are completed accurately and efficiently. Provide performance feedback to the Grocery Manager.
• Inventory Management and Merchandising: Ensure timely order completion and adequate inventory is ordered to ensure the shelves are full, research new products and collaborate for effective rotation and stocking. Assist with annual warehouse inventory counts.
• Advertising and Promotions: Ensure proper labeling and pricing; assist with the building of end displays and attractive displays, and exploration of cross-merchandising opportunities;
• Administrative Tasks: Fill out and complete transfer sheets as other department products are utilized, ensuring accurate tracking and organization of inventory responsibilities across roles.
• Technology: Utilize email, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), and project management software for effective communication and project management; use Dayforce for scheduling and tracking employee time.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience, with strong leadership and communication skills.
• 1 to 2 years of previous supervisory or managerial experience in a grocery store or retail environment, with excellent customer service abilities.
• Ability to work in a team environment, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Basic computer proficiency for scheduling and inventory management tasks, with forklift/Power Jack training and Smart Serve considered assets.
• Ability to work varying shifts to support the needs of the department and staff

Terms of Employment: Full-time, including weekends and holidays

Wage/Salary: $22.00 – $25.00 per/hour (depending on experience)
