Temporary - One (1) Year Term

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 35hrs/week

Salary: $23.88/hour

Position Summary

Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, the Economic Development Intern will provide support to implement the economic development priorities outlined in the City of Kenora's 2022-2027 Strategic Plan and the 2021 Five Year Tourism and Economic Development Strategy.

This will include, but is not limited to: delivery of strategic economic development projects; research; data and performance measurement; business retention and expansion and investment attraction activities. In addition, the Intern will be responsible for managing social media platforms to support the Economic Development and Tourism Department. The Intern will provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

Position Requirements

  • University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three (3) years from an accredited college or university. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program. The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate's field of study. Candidate must also not have previously participated in a Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation internship in the 2020 mandate.
  • The successful candidate will have a degree from a recognized university or college in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Planning, or other related Arts degrees along with a strong knowledge of emerging technology; proficiency in computer systems and networking; strong oral and written communication, and presentation skills, proven organizational, time management, project management and marketing skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a clean valid ā€œGā€ Ontario Driver's License. Must have a clean driving record
  • The candidate must understand and maintain strict confidentiality.
