Opportunity
MacEwan University is seeking Student Leadership Assistants (Student Workers) for casual opportunities with our Student Affairs department. Reporting to the Leadership Education Specialist, you will support leadership opportunities and development programs for MacEwan students, with a specific focus on the MacEwan Ambassador Program, Golden Key International Honour Society Chapter, Emerging Leaders program, B.I.P.O.C Mentorship Program, and the iVolunteer program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting planning of the Leadership and Engagement portfolio programs for the upcoming academic year, including leadership training and information sessions;
- Marketing student leadership opportunities and recruiting participants;
- Updating training materials and assisting with the creation of promotional materials (e.g., posters, information sheets, social media posts);
- Maintaining student engagement records;
- Establishing and maintaining communication strategies with students through social media and other digital platforms; and
- Providing administrative support to leadership initiatives.
SKILLS
You will have:
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication, with confidence in public speaking;
- Leadership skills;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications; and
- Proficiency with social media platforms, like Discord, Instagram, Facebook, and X/Twitter.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a high school diploma.
- A minimum of one year at a post-secondary institution in good academic standing.
- Current enrolment in a full-time program at MacEwan University taking a minimum of 9 credits.
- Experience as a MacEwan student leader is considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
