Job Description: Manager - Pickleball Facility
Position Overview:
The Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pickleball facility, including operations, staff management, customer service, league and organized play
management/development and facility maintenance. The Manager ensures that the facility runs smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and standards. The Manager provides strategic assistance to the owner, including long term partnerships, seeking and applying for grants, generating or improving upon existing policies and procedures, and general ideas to increase overall profitability and executing those initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
- Develop, implement and maintain operational policies and procedures.
- Oversee daily operations, including court reservations, equipment rentals, and facility
maintenance.
- Become a super user of court reserve and escalate issues to court reserve as required and
seek solutions. Understand other functionalities of court reserve to see if YYC Pickleball can
benefit from them
- Continually keep up to date with court reserve updates and feature enhancements and
determine which of the new enhancements are beneficial for YYC Pickleball and
implement/teach staff how to use.
- Oversee the connect team application and set up for proper use, onboarding and
communications.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.
2. Staff Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff .
- Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage for all operations.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for staff .
- Find creative ways to hire staff (ie grants or practicums)
3. Customer Service:
- Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain customers.
4. Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring that financial goals are met.
- Monitor revenue and expenses, and implement cost-control measures as needed.
- Prepare regular financial reports for management.
5. Strategic Initiatives
- Assist with long-term initiatives such as collaborations, strategic partnerships or ideas that
with increasing profitability. Determine which partnerships are worthwhile pursuing
- Your pickleball background and passion is extended into developing various organized play
formats. This includes leagues, competitive events, tournaments and many others to provide players various options to play. Generate promotions to incentivize and increase utilization, ie summer months, weekdays etc.
- Grow the youth pickleball programs and promote YYC Pickleball to the youth demographic (ie school programs etc.)
- Monitor various grants that are applicable to YYC Pickleball or find ways to optimize programs available to the business.
- Evaluate and implement new applications or software as required to help improve business operations.
6. Marketing and Promotion:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the facility and its programs.
- Collaborate with social media marketing team to create promotional materials and
campaigns.
- Participate in community events to promote the facility and engage with the community. This may include Pickleball Alberta, Calgary Pickleball Club or other National or International Pickleball associations and groups to create awareness and collaboration opportunities.
- Generate ideas for other community events or opportunities for awareness and exposure of the brand.
- Monitor competitors and understand what others are doing for programs, costs, etc and how do we adapt, change or do differently as required.
7. Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure that the facility is well-maintained, clean, and in good repair.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Monitor and maintain equipment inventory.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in facility management, preferably in the sports or recreation industry.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of pickleball rules and regulations (preferred).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Weekends as needed
