The IT Infrastructure Coordinator (the Coordinator) organises the day-to-day operation of the IT Infrastructure teams, including supervision of staff and establishing and executing operational workflows The Coordinator ensures operations conform to standards, policies, and processes, providing suitable technical outcomes and effective services to clients across the University. The Coordinator oversees ECU's IT Infrastructure related systems and services and acts as a subject matter expert and first point of contact providing support and training to several University departments and elevating complex matters to the Director. The Coordinator supports proper and timely communication with students, faculty, and staff, and the IT Infrastructure teams to ensure effective curriculum and administrative support and resource allocation.

Some Typical Duties:- Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day work of the IT Infrastructure teams. In consultation with the Director, coordinates staffing and scheduling to support academic programs and administration. Ensures suitable technical outcomes and effective services to clients across the University.
- Provides day-to-day direction to IT Infrastructure team members in a variety of technical, administrative, client services, and student related areas, and acts as a resource, troubleshooting requests from students, faculty, and staff.
- Participates in the technician recruitment process. Develops staff training plans and knowledge base and training materials. Oversees staff training and implements area plan for professional development with particular emphasis on cross departmental initiatives. Matters of an evaluative, disciplinary, contract administration and interpretation basis are referred to Director.
- Responds to requests from the University's academic and administrative areas and provides support and information on department's IT Infrastructure services.
- Troubleshoots day-to-day operation liaising with vendors, technicians, and ITS staff to ensure consistent operation. Ensures records, access, software licenses, and certificates are up to date.
- Performs regular trend reviews for IT infrastructure systems and services usage and client requests; makes recommendations to Director, for operations and equipment purchase planning and improvements.
- Under the direction of the Director, collaborates to develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for University IT infrastructure services. Monitors the effectiveness of work area's policies and procedures, develops, recommends, and implements departmental policy improvements.
- Oversees the creation and maintenance of IT infrastructure technical and client-facing documentation by ensuring documents are updated and uploaded to the management system and publishing to the departmental website.
- Monitors IT infrastructure operating budget and provides updates to the Director. Researches, orders, follows-up with vendors, negotiates equipment replacement, warranties, service and repairs with manufacturers and service providers. and maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment. Ensures area's equipment inventory records are accurate and a yearly inventory count is completed.
- Meets regularly with the Director and other ITS and Technical Services Coordinators and Leads to ensure coordination of work activities and communication of information relevant to curriculum and administrative support within the University. Represents the work area at department and other meetings as required. Provides department information tours.
- Provides support to the System Administration, Network Administration, and Device Management teams.
- May participate in working groups composed of departmental staff and technical staff from other departments to resolve issues, evaluate emerging technologies, and develop and recommend standards.
- Works closely with the Director on annual capital processes, including equipment replacement and upgrade projects.
- Ensures a safe working and learning environment by adhering to WHMIS, WorkSafe BC Regulations, and by following the University's Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Minimum five years related experience in a comparable technical position in a post-secondary institution with extensive knowledge in IT infrastructure management.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable practical experience with a breadth of equipment, materials, techniques, processes, and protocols related to the operational area supervised.
- Experience supervising skilled employees.
- Experience overseeing and developing budgets.
- Extensive knowledge and experience supporting IT wired and wireless networks, related equipment, and systems.
- Highly developed skills in the disciplines and functional area.
- Excellent knowledge of computers with Mac and Windows OS, and M365 applications.
- Experience working with a client service ticketing system (TDX, Spiceworks).
- Experience working with Enterprise applications used in IT Infrastructure support (e.g.: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management, and server and endpoint management)
- Basic database administration and best practices skills
- Experience with budget administration, staffing, scheduling, and purchasing procedures.
- Strong leadership skills; providing mentorship and coaching to staff.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member, sharing information and ideas in a timely manner.
- Ability to make independent decisions within policies and guidelines.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
- Physical stamina and mobility to permit lifting, carrying, and moving objects.
