Natpro a division of DXP Canada, operates eight facilities located across the country and represents a variety of world-class pump and compressor manufacturers. The company serves different market sectors including Oil & Gas, Mining & Metals, Chemical & Petrochemical, Utilities & Power Generation, Municipal and others.

As a Project Mechanical Technician you will be a key member of the Engineering Team which provides support to the Project Management and Manufacturing Teams. Your primary focus will be to provide the required completed datasheets, drawings, documents, bills of materials, ITPs, etc. as determined by the Customer's purchase order to the other team members such that they can execute the required work.

Responsibilities for Project Mechanical Technician

  • Developing P&ID, GA, ISOs piping drawing
  • Assist in reviewing civil structural calculation, building drawing, HVAC calculation and basic electrical drawings (SLD's).
  • Support Sales quotation process in terms of specification and design.
  • Ensure all engineering design products are technically accurate and consistent with department and industry standards.
  • Serve as a backup checker when required and check drawings for accuracy, neatness, and completeness.
  • Provide technical assistance to other departments throughout the organization and to outside customers when required.
  • Assist in the design of new products and/or in the redesign of existing products.
  • Responsible for assigning the drafting group duties and ensuring the deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for developing or modifying technical procedures such as NDE (Visual, Radiography, PMI etc), paint & coating.
  • Develop the Vendor Document Requirement Plan and ensure the successful implementation and execution of the plan.
  • Develop the Manufacturing Record Book Plan and ensure the successful implementation and execution of the plan.
  • Develop the Inspection and Test Plan and ensure the successful implementation and execution of the plan.

Qualifications for Project Mechanical Technician

  • CET and or (5) five years or more of design experience with related technical knowledge of rotating equipment packaged systems. This experience will include structural fabrication of skids/bases, general layout of equipment packages, P&IDs, and piping design.
  • Good knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME B31.3, CWB W47.1, OH&S, ANSI, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly related CAD and engineering software.
  • Experienced with piping line class specification development, line list development and specialty items required.
  • Experience reviewing and approving ISO's and piping plans, structural and HVAC and electrical drawings.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing (fabrication, machining, and assembly) processes.
  • Must have the ability to work within a multi-discipline engineering team. The incumbent will be working with sales, operations, and procurement groups as well as vendors to produce manufacturing ready packages.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
  • Experienced with piping line class specification development, line list development and specialty items required.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities (theoretical and practical) and can work with minimum supervision.
  • Experience reviewing and approving ISO's and piping plans and sections.
